not alone

Dirty Projectors • I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine

i sit under muskoka sky. rain drenched trees. in front of a shining lake. a canoe upturned. thoughts of treading water while it pours. beside me is a soulmate in searching. a sister in need. the music missing but the drops make a perfect soundtrack to the haven we’re in. waking up smells like wet pine. and we keep walking in the rain. her and i. a lot. feet covered in mud or tiny rocks that fit ever so perfectly between toes. we stroll on the soaked earth like it’s the champs-élysées. because the end is unseen. and the cloudburst can be pleasant if we allow it to be. and we’re not alone. and it’s warm. so why not.
