Beach House – Zebra

For a split second we think the doors are open wide. But then they shut. Slam in our faces. We shuffle home, lie on the wooden floor and sob. Bawl our eyes out until the skin on our faces is over-hydrated. Then you knock. We scrape our enervated bodies up up and away. You call. So we assemble. You give us an envelope. In it is the dream. And then you lead us. Take us to the sea in the middle of the night. Remind us that another day is almost upon us. Any way you run, you run before us.
