St. Vincent – The Party
Samuel is the fool.
He trusts the people around him. Wears his heart on his sleeve. He is always so willing to please.
He wakes up in the morning and decides to apply layers and layers of make-up. He unwillingly leaves his house and realizes.
He needs to be more selfish. No matter how hard it is. He needs to have a backbone. Then they’ll stop taking advantage of him and maybe even respect him.
He meets someone special. A bar. Someone that really likes him, who wants the make-up off and the frown to go away.
Samuel is pleased. But needs to remind himself to take it slow. Be selfish. Just a little. Earn respect.
Carefully he starts shedding layers.
And they talk into the wee hours of the night.
Tonight. St. Vincent. Live. Horseshoe Tavern. I’ll be there.
